SUSAN W. COLEMAN, J.D., M.P.A. is President of Coleman
Raider International, a worldwide consulting firm that specializes in negotiations,
coaching, collaborative change processes, conflict resolution and intercultural
communication. Coleman Raider International is comprised of affiliated
consultants around the world
and has been in existence since 1978.
Ms. Coleman’s professional experience ranges from training executives,
diplomats, lawyers, educators and others in collaborative negotiation skills,
mediating disputes between individuals, departments and warring factions, coaching
individuals and groups in their professional development, working with trade
teams, facilitating retreats, and engaging large groups with multiple stakeholders
in building a common ground agenda for the future.
From 1996-2004, Ms. Coleman designed a conflict resolution program for the
United Nations Secretariat through which she managed and delivered programs
throughout
the world. She was also at the forefront of establishing a conflict resolution
program at Teacher’s College, Columbia University where she served as
the Director of International Projects from 1997 to 2004. With strong expertise
in
cross-cultural communication, the training materials she developed with Ellen
Raider have been used around the world and have been translated into many languages.
Some of Ms. Coleman’s clients have included AT&T, the Colombian Government,
NASA, USDA, the United Nations, American Express and others. She has been published
twice: in the The Handbook of Conflict Resolution (2000) and in the upcoming
Sage Handbook of Conflict Communication (2005).
Ms. Coleman has a Doctorate in Law from Hofstra University where she was a member
of the Law Review, and a Masters in Public Administration from the Kennedy School
of Government at Harvard University. In addition, she is a graduate of the Organization
and Systems Development program at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland and has
had other extensive training in individual, group and organization development.
Ms. Coleman has traveled worldwide, has lived in Latin America and speaks Spanish
in addition to her native English. She and her family currently reside in the
Hudson Highlands north of New York City.
